But I'm way too fat / got no hips / feel too skinny to bellydance!

No way! Bellydance originates from Middle Eastern folk dances. Folk dances are designed for *all* people to
enjoy, regardless of their shape. In fact many women find that bellydance helps them to accept their bodies the
way they are. When you enter the studio, you can leave body anxieties behind and simply enjoy the
movements!

Is it safe for pregnant women?

This is something you need to discuss with your doctor. It is generally not advisable to embark on a new
exercise program while pregnant. However many experienced bellydancers continue dancing almost until their
delivery date! If you choose to attend regular classes while pregnant, you should let your instructor know so
that she can modify some of the movements for you.

What are these A-Z Routines you keep referring to?

The A-Z Bellydance Routines are 26 16-count bellydance movement combinations designed by Keti Sharif.

How much do classes cost?

To start bellydancing with Oasis Dance Studio simply sign up for a BellydanceNOW beginner course ($90 for a
six week course). After that classes are $15 casually (cash only) unless otherwise specified on the schedule. Or
take advantage of our Oasis ticket system. Tickets are 8 for $98 or 16 for $184 and can be used for almost any
Studio classes. You can purchase your tickets from your instructor. We accept cash, money orders, credit card
or EFTPOS payment.

Where is the Studio located?

Oasis Dance Studio is located in Claremont, Western Australia at the corner of Stirling Highway and Reserve
Street. The Studio entrance and parking are off Reserve Street. The Claremont train station and the popular
Bayview Terrace shopping and cafe strip are a pleasant 5 - 8 minute walk from the Studio. Transperth buses
run regularly down Stirling Highway with bus stops close by the Studio.

What should I wear to class?

Wear something comfortable that allows you freedom to move. Leggings, crop
tops, leotards and t-shirts are fine. If you prefer to wear a skirt, be sure it has
enough fullness and stretch to allow freedom of movement. If you have
something to tie around your hips that's great too, or you can borrow a hip
scarf for use during class.

Do I need dance experience?

Not at all! BellydanceNOW beginner classes will take you through the most
basic steps. The move on to Core Moves & Concepts classes for more new
moves and choreographies! Our experienced instructors can help you to find
your 'inner dancer'.

How long does it take to learn?

This varies as everyone is different. Some of the movements you will find
very easy, others will take more time to master. Bellydance basic steps are
easy to learn, but the art itself will provide a lifetime of learning.
